Marketing Research and
New Product Development
for Entrepreneurs and Corporations
From Idea to Reality to Market...
Start here.
I help entrepreneurs, inventors, independent professionals, and consumer goods companies with the initial, creative stages of new product development. This includes market research and coming up with the hook.
What's
a hook? It's the Pocket
Fisherman vs. The Musclecar. It's the UnCola to the Pepsi Generation.
It's a Cigarette Boat or the Swiftboat. It's The Donald in The Big
Apple. The One Touch can opener for all that mmm-mmm good soup. It's
the Soup Nazi. It's Deal Or No Deal. It's YouTube vs.The Boob Tube.
It's A Hummer vs. The Bug. It's the Target bull's eye and the Nike
whoosh. Can You Hear Me Now? It's the Cingular Bars and Sprint's
pin drop. It's Starbucks vs. Seattle's Best. It's the iPOD surfacing
in a wave of MP3 players. It's the almighty Thigh Master which --
to this day -- has yet to be un-hooked by the myriad body-sculpting
machines on the market.
I love coming up with a good hook. For me, it's the most fun part of new product development. I'm so good at defining the hook for my clients, I've considered calling myself a "new product hooker." Not.

Is This You? You have a great idea for a new product or service, but don't know where to start:
- How do you do a product search? A name search?
- Is anyone else doing it? And, if so, does that mean you can't?
- If it's a product, do you need a patent? Or a trademark for the name?
- How do you get a competitive market analysis?
- How do you come up with the hook for your idea?
Big Picture Questions
- Who provides the creative strategy, sourcing, distribution, advertising, fulfillment?
- What's the best marketing vehicle and what does it cost?
- Can you afford to launch a new product yourself?
- Where can you get funding (investors or marketing partners) to get your product off the ground?
Scary Questions
- Will you get your money's worth with an expensive dinosaur of a traditional advertising agency?
- Is the world of Direct Response a tank full of sharks?
- Is eCommerce confusing, overlapping, and changing by the second?
Your Answer
I have
the answers to all of your questions, and I can save you much time and money.
I spent years as a Creative Director/Copywriter at top Consumers Goods Advertising
Agencies in Chicago and New York, where I helped launch nearly 100 new products
and line extensions. My clients ranged from Fortune 100 companies to private "mom
and pop" operations.
Over
the past ten years I've been in Direct Response, and have helped numerous DR
marketers and independent entrepreneurs and inventors launch successful new
products. I have also researched and developed myriad products and services
that never got to market. (You need to know about those, too.)
Before you turn your idea over to an advertising or
direct response agency, let me have first crack at it.
I'll save you tens of thousands of dollars.
I'll provide you with more information,
strategies and support in one week than
a big agency will give you in a month --
all at a fraction of the fee they'd charge you.
Call me.
Let me take a shot at it.
I'll give you more for your money.
